Task:

From the 3 ideas above, no doubt im choosing expansion my wordmark because is fun (im a be honest is not that fun) but the good side is a whole new experience so i think it will improve my self in the future.

Fig 1.1 First attampt uppercase (02,12,2025)

This is my very first attampt on making the uppercase, after making this i rush to Mr.vinod to show the work (no really, i just sit and wait patienly until Mr.Vinod come and see my work) and the first thing he said the flow is not the same as the lowercase so i need to improve and make it similar so it will be in 1 typefont.

Fig 1.2 Second Attampt Uppercase and lowercase (02,12,2025)

So this is my second attampt and it looks more nicer than before i follow the flow of the lowercase. from that day on i continue to making the number and marks.

Fig 1.3 Number Design (05,12,2025)

Okey, we are at numbers now and personaly i dont think number really that matter which flow you are using and this is what i came out, because i want to make my font into general staff and maybe can be use daily like "Poppins font" (that font is so goated btw) that's why i want to make it similiar to poppins number.

Fig 1.4 Marks Design (05,12,2025)

Next is Marks, to be honest i dont really know if Marks is that importent for example we took at (ad/@) it only use for emails only so i make it simple.

After done making all of this next i need to transport all of my design into fontlab so it can be use as normal font.
Fig 1.5 All design move into Fontlab (08,12,2025)

Here is the prove that i already put it in fontlab.

Fig 1.6 Kerning at fontlab (08,12,2025)

This is all the setting for kerning, why i put it all kerning on 12 because it looks perfect on my eye. it just hit the right spot so that's why i put it on 12

Okey after done making all of that i need to make Font Presentation and here is the design.

Fig 1.7 First Attampt for Font Presentation (10,12,2025)

Personaly i dont really want to make it too much going on and i want it to make it simple.

Font Application

On Font Application i want to make it like a promotion for my haqi. Project so i choose all of this

Fig 3.1 Font application Banner (11,12,2025)

Lowky this is absolutely masterpiece for my it was simple, elegent and fantastic.

Fig 3.2 Font application Banner in Train (11,12,2025)

i make it like similiar like the billboard and it just perfect.

Fig 3.3 Font application Business card(11,12,2025)

For this i change the color because i want to show that this is official business card so thats why i chang the color.

Fig 3.4 Font application Building banner (11,12,2025)

Im a be honest i dont know what am i supposed to say, like at the same time i want to make it like to show that this is haqi office.

Fig 3.5 Font application Id card(11,12,2025)

for the last is gonna be an id card, so people that wear it gonna get recognize other people, that person is working on haqi collective (i am so goated and proud of my self).

Feedback:
Week 12: i got no feedback because i haven't put it on Fontlab, and he also tell us that the deadline is gonna be at week 13.

Week 11: I showed the uppercase to Mr.Vinod and he say it was so weird because the flow off the uppercase and lowercase is not match and i need to redo it

Week 10: I showed my work to Mr.Vinod and he say was very good but need to fix the height because it was inconsisten, and also for the next week i need to show the uppercase because i did the wrong one. i start with lowercase first because my wordmark was lowercase so it will be much more easier to manage for me.

Week 9: General Feedback: giving feedback for task 3 and making sure what we are choosing.
Specific Feedback: i was gonna choose to expand for my task 2 wordmark and Mr. Vinod approved it.

Reflection:

Working on the Haqi typeface and its applications was both a serious design exercise and a surprisingly fun experiment. At first, the goal was simply to create a clean, modern sans-serif font, but along the way it evolved into a flexible system that could confidently live on posters, buildings, billboards, ID cards, and even awkwardly large walls (which, surprisingly, the font handled very well). I focused heavily on consistency in stroke weight, curvature, and spacing to ensure readability, while still allowing the letterforms—especially characters like h and the dot to act as visual personalities rather than just letters doing their job quietly.

Applying the font across different mockups helped me understand how typography behaves outside the comfort zone of an artboard. Some layouts worked instantly, while others made me realize that typography, much like people, behaves differently depending on the environment. The playful tone used throughout the project also reflects my approach to design: structured but not stiff, intentional but not afraid to be a little goofy. Overall, this project taught me that a typeface does not only communicate through words, but also through attitude and Haqi confidently says, “I’m functional, I’m adaptable, and yes, I can still have fun while doing it.”

Fig 6.1: How to make Punctuation and Symbols.

The first step in designing punctuations is to create the period (".") character. This will be the guide to create the other punctuation marks. The period is taken from the "i" character, after extracted, make it a little bit larger. This dot can become the base for comma, colon, semi colon, question mark, exclamation mark and more.

Fig 6.2: Period beside the "i" character.

The next punctuation to make is comma, comma usually have two forms. The top of comma is slightly lighter than period and needs to be long enough. If we already done with comma, it is easy to make semi colon.

Fig 6.3: Two forms of comma.

After making comma and period, we can create exclamation and question mark. The bar above the period is slightly bigger at the top than the bottom.

Fig 6.4: Exclamation mark example.

Creating a question mark can be tricky because it requires a balance open curve above the period. We can use 'c', 'C', 'G', and 'S' glyph to provide the base of the design.

Fig 6.5: Question mark example using different basis.

After creating all of the above, we can begin creating additional symbols such as bracket, bar, quotes and more. Quotes are similar to comma but slightly longer and often curve more.

Fig 6.6: Quotation mark.

Fig 6.7: How to make Brackets.

All of the brackets and parentheses are all the same height and alignment. They line up vertically at the ascender line and drop below the baseline. The reason for this kind of alignment is to center around the x-height, because it tend to look right if they center vertically around characters this height. In conclusion, try to make it slightly longer than the uppercase and make it below the baseline.
